Psoriatic arthritis - recent knowlidge on pathogenesis, prognosis, assessment and therapy.

Abstract

The article presents some newer findings on the etiology, pathogenesis and clinics of psoriatic arthritis. It unravels the question of the position of PsA among the group of other spondylarthritidies and its relationship to rheumatoid arthritis, on the basis of histological and histichemical studies.

Further the new classification criteria of PsA (CASPAR) and the possibilities of the assessment of PsA are presented, as well as the lomg-term effects of biological therapy with inhibitors of TNFα. At the end the overview of new biological agents which are being studied, including the inhibitors of osteoclastogenesis are presented.
