Abstract
Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) is a progestin-only long acting reversible hormonal contraceptive birth control drug which is injected every 3 months. Dosis of 150 mg for intramuscular application (Depo-Provera inj) is also indicated for therapy of endometriosis.
Newer form for subcutaneous application (Sayana inj) has only 104 mg of drug. DMPA is characterised by high efficacy and safety, high percentage of amenorea and slow return of fertility.
