Three years of HPV vaccination by quadrivalent vaccine.

Abstract

A vaccination against human papillomaviruses is primary prevention for malignant lesions joined with HPV 16 and 18 especially for cervical cancer. With the addition of cross protection against other HPV types it could cover more than 80% of cervical cancers.

The usage of quadrivalent vaccine have added value in possibility to safe also against genital warts and other lesions induced by HPV 6 and 11. The best results are reached by vaccination of HPV-naive persons which have not come into contact with this most frequent sexually transmitted infection.

Vaccination is useful also in older women.
