In 2008, 1,115 profession-related diseases have been acknowledged in 1,403 workers in the Czech Republic, 1,3278 of them occupational diseases and 76 at the status of being endangered by an occupational disease. Incidence of occupational diseases represented 30,7 cases per 100,000 of health insured employees.
Most occupational diseases have been acknowledged in the Moravian-Silesian region (23,1 % of cases). Most often workers in the sector of economic activity concerning production of metal constructions and metal-processing products (15,5 % of the total) have encountered the disease.
The most frequently acknowledged diagnosis of occupational diseases proved to be the carpal tunnel syndrome (altogether 349 cases).
