E-learning in the interdisciplinary teaching at the university focusing on environment and sustainable development

Abstract

E-learning is a classic implementation of educational objectives, but with added domain of creativity and metacognitive skills. It supports also communication skills, supports self-directed learning strategies, helps to build social networks and creates communities of interest.

Students are guided by instructions in LMS, where they are also primarily assessed, however, perform tasks in a wiki environment, which allows for independent work on short specialized texts and also offers the possibility of cooperation within groups and the development of critical thinking. The paper deals with the relevance the e-learning environment created according to this model for learning complex and socially relevant environmental issues.
