Effect of the single-dose of nicotine-administration on the brain bioelectrical activity and on behaviour in immature 12-day-old rats

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of nicotine in one application but in two different doses on the brain bioelectrical activity and on behaviour and motor activity in young, immature rats. We conclude that even a single dose of nicotine can evoke alterations in the electrocorticogram (ECoG), in behaviour and in motor activity of experimental animals.

The quantity, quality and length of observed and evaluated abnormalities were closely related to the dose of nicotine.
