The Czech ABI Project - Prevalence of peripheral arterial disease in patients at risk using the ankle-brachial index in general practice (a cross-sectional-study)

Abstract

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is often under-diagnosed and under-treated. Individuals with symptomatic and even asymptomatic forms of PAD should be identified so that therapeutic interventions could be performed.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of PAD, defined as an ABI <0.9, in at-risk consecutive patients visiting their general practitioners (GPs).
