Differential regulation of galectin expression/reactivity during wound healing in porcine skin and in cultures of epidermal cells with functional impact on migration

Abstract
The expression of galectins-1, -3 and -7 during wound healing in pig was studied using immunohitochemical probes as well as quantitative PCR and Western blot analysis. The results were confronted with in vitro cultivation of keratinocytes.
The biggest changes were found in galectin-1 expression.
