Abstract

Carcinoma of the pancreas (CP) is a tumor with a life limiting prognosis and increasing incidence. Histologically, 85% is a ductal adenocarcinoma.

Etiopathogenesis of CP is multifactorial and includes the effects of environmental factors (smoking, alcohol, high dietary fat, obesity), obtained by genetic and non-genetic disorders (diabetes), the influence of genetic hereditary predisposition (hereditary pancreatitis), some of which also affect the oxidative balance of the organism. The aim of our study was to extend and optimize the diagnosis of oxidative burden in patients with pancreatic cancer.
