Diagnosis of urinary tract infections (UTI) is based on clinical symptoms and laboratory findings. It is not usually easy to make this diagnosis in infants and toddlers and it is necessary to keep the diagnosis of UTI in mind in febrile child.
The therapy of UTI respects local bacterial resistance and the rules of rational antibiotic use. Treatment strategy depends on child's clinical state and age.
Children with chronic and recurrent UTI require complex care.
