The main part of the article is a translation of one homily of Isaac Syrian from the original Syriac languague. Isaac is known as an eminent theological and mystical author of the Syriac Christianity of the 7th century C.
E. The mystery of the Christ's Cross is elucidated as a fulfillment of numerous Old Testament types.
The translation of the homily is furnished with an introduction and with text-critical, literary and theological notes.
