An Assessment of Land Use with a Computable General Equilibrium Model for the Czech Republic

Publication |
2010

Abstract

There is a demand for economic assessment of the change in the land use for various reasons, such as biofuel promotion policies. To contribute to this topic, the computable general equilibrium model is introduced and has following features: multiregionality, intertemporality, and a quasi-fixed land supply (limited area of agricultural land as one of the production input of agricultural sector).

Economic sectors and world regions are chosen to address the issue of production, consumption and trade of oil, agricultural commodities and biofuels in transport. The paper presents a steady state version of the model, an illustrative simulation and implications for further work.
