The article springs from the hypothesis that equivalents in other languages represented in parallel corpora can serve as structural paraphrases to structures in the original language and, as such, have the capacity to disambiguate individual senses of polysemous expressions. This hypothesis is tested - and confirmed - on Czech equivalents to Spanish verbs having a compositional meaning, formed with the prefix re- and collected from the InterCorp parallel corpus as developed at Charles University in Prague (http://www.korpus.cz/intercorp/).
Along with the issue of disambiguation, the article also tests the validity of existing semantic typologies of the above-mentioned verbs.
