From the second half of 20th century the majority of European countries have benn witnessed the proces of broad spatial polarization in connection with primary schools distribution. The massive school closure, especially in rural areas, and the concentration of educational function to populated settlement units rise from general processes, as well as from unique historical conditions in particular country.
In the publication we try to present main trends in development of primary schools network in Czechia during last 50 years and some of their consequences for living in rural municipalities.
