What can we expect today from Aspirin in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases?

Abstract

Aspirin is an important antiplatelet drug and its main role is predominantly in the secondary prevention of thrombotic atherosclerotic complications: in patients with an acute coronary syndrome, after Coronary interventions and Coronary bypass surgery. This drug i also effective in those who suffered stroke, transient ischemic attack and in patients with peripheral vascular disease.

Beneficial effect of aspirin in the primary prevention is, however, outweighed by bleeding complications (gastrointestinal, extracranial and in less extent intracerebral).
