Differential diagnosis of pathologic conditions in the sella region

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2013

Abstract

Sellar region belongs to the intracranial areas with the highest degree of anatomical, embryological, neurological, and endocrinological complexity. Despite the fact it covers only a small anatomical area, the number of pathologic conditions that can be encountered here is substantial.

The article gives an overview of differential diagnostic approaches to pathlogic conditions occuring in that area by means of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Listed are both common as well as rare findings potentially causing diagnostic difficulties.
