Sonicfill - sonic-activated composite for lateral teeth

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2013

Abstract

At present, composite materials are commonly used for fillings in posterior teeth. Due to the polymeration shrinkage and unfavourable C-factor in class I and II cavities the material must be applied in layers, which makes the filling more difficult and time consuming.

Thus, the manufacturers make an effort to adjust the material composition and properties to enable the filling in a single layer. Recently, the material SonicFill has been introduced, which can be applied in one single layer up to 5 mm in depth.

As all the to date articles have been published by the manufacturer on his own or by authors participating in the development of the material, the authors have reviewed the available literature about SonicFill and assessed it objectively. If the material SonicFill is supposed to be a kind of revolution in posterior composites, its declared advantageous properties necessarily will need to be proven even in any independent studies.
