Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2013

Abstract

After 1990 and within the perspective of the enlargement of the European Union, the culture became one of the main issue of the relation between Czech- German and Czech Austrian borderlands societies. Indeed, after the collapse of the socialist regime, the permanence of regional and local cultural identities at the Western Bohemian border became a shared idea among specialist and local actors.

At first, the paper presents the evolution of the relation between societies and space at Czech German and Czech Austrian border. Then, it questions the political and cultural referencies of the past that enable the construction of the links between culture and territory at the border of the former iron curtain.
