The chapter characterizes the basic trends of the important part of German foreign policy, which bhas now established itself as a separate dimension, ie "foreign scientific policy" (Gernot Erler). An important role plays here the foundation Max-Weber-Stiftung, bringing together traditional German humanities institutes (mainly historical) abroad.
The study deals with the relationship of the institution to the other actors of German foreign cultural policy and their relevance to contemporary German foreign policy culture and identity.
