The paper presents preliminary results of an ongoing research in the area of textbook analysis. The aim of the research is to map the world of textbooks of mathematics for primary and secondary schools.
The research will include text analysis of word problems and narratives in mathematics textbooks but also exploration of the whole system of textbook writing, approbation, publication and use. This paper focuses on the stereotypical and non-stereotypical images of people and situations that can be found in word problem assignments in a contemporary Czech textbook of mathematics for 11 year old pupils.
