Abstract
In this text, I proceed from the fact that today is very often talked about the dangers of populism in politics. Trying to define political populism, explain why it has so many different forms and give some examples of political populism in the Czech lands.
I warn us to criticize political populism not slide to the contrary, democratic elitism. I suggest the criticism Schumpeter's concept of democratic elitism, especially in the key issue of the irrationality of ordinary citizens.
