Abstract
The chapter evaluates urbanization processes in the transformation period in the Czech Republic and their impact on inner differentiation of physical and social environment of metropolitan regions. Specifically, the text is focused on study of the process of suburbanization, mechanisms, actors and impacts which are brought by the process to different parts of metropolitan regions.
Attention is paid to theoretical and methodical approaches to the study of urbanization and suburbanization and to changes of social environment of metropolitan regions.
