Abstract
Crisis of the Czech eudated class in the 1920s bad 193s, caused particularly by unsolved questions of their involvement in political life, is here regarded on wide European background. Some intellectuals considered such infolvement as betrayal o f spiritual mission of the educated class.
Ferdinand Peroutka, editor of the Přítomnost, on the contrary, urged the intellectualsnot to keep the social problems.
