Abstract
A critical biography of Fr Marie-Josef Lagrange, founder of modern biblical studies (106 pp.) and translation of his key texts from French (78 pp.). The historical study is focused on contribution of Fr Lagrange, a French Dominican friar and founder of Jerusalem Biblical School, to the development of modern critical and scientifical exegeses in the Catholic Church, on the modernism and anti-modernism in the Catholic Church in the beginning of the 20th century.
