The „Joash Inscription“: The Epigraphic Discovery of the Century?

Abstract

The study presents a transcription, translation and brief analysis of the entire text of the so called Joash tablet found in Jerusalem in January 2003. Linguistic analysis of the inscription and the comparison with the relevant biblical passages leads to conclusion that the tablet cannot be authentic but is most probably a forgery.
