The goal of the paper is to introduce the phenomenon of CDA obstacles (CDA is an acronym of Concept, Definition, Application). The emphasis is put on situations in which the teacher's concept image and the use of the concept do not match his/her formal definition of the concept.

The text includes classification of 3 basic types of CDA obstacles, which are then illustrated by specific examples.
