Abstract

In the paper, the author clarifies the relationship between both the trade unions and forms of employee participation, respectively. He explains their particularities, features and meaning.

He also presents them as a channel for articulation of the legitimate demands of employees in the firm. He also explains the past and current theoretical debate on the existence of trade unions along with the works councils.

Currently, trade unions are facing various problems in many countries. These problems are described in the conclusion.
