The Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church is considered as one of the most coherent philosophical concepts oriented towards social problems of society. This paper evaluates this doctrine in the context of current global economic and political changes, paying attention to the evolution of the modern political system.
The paper also clarifies basic philosophical positions of recent documents published in this field, especially of the papal encyclical Caritas in veritate and of the note of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
