Leisure sports and transformation of the Czech society: socioeconomic determinants of sports participation between years 1984-2009

Abstract
The paper analyses changes of Czech population leisure sports activity between the years 1984-2009. The analysis of three representative surveys (1984, 1991, and 2009) shows that the rate of sports participation among the adult population almost doubled during this period.
Despite profound changes in society, the role of individual factors (age, gender, cultural capital) on differences in the sports participation remains unchanged.
