Abstract
The article deals with the concept of imaginative geographies established by the literary theorist Edward Said and with the concept of regional identity proposed by A. Paasi.
The first part of the paper briefly introduces the concept of identity of the region. The second part further discusses the concept of imaginative geographies, both from the poststructuralist perspective and as an essential part of any regionʼs image.
In the last part of the article the authorʼs view of imaginative geographies is presented as part of identity of the region, which is variable depending on the socio-spatial context.
