Asbestos - fibrous particles of mineral actinolite in ambient air of the Pilsen district

Abstract

Combination of ambient air quality monitoring focused on asbestos in the Pilsen district and field and laboratory measurements of asbestos mineral actinolite, which forms high proportion of gravel used as building material and spread for roads in the district, led to air pollution source apportionment. Presented article presents evidences that even gravel must be considered as ramarkable source of fibrous asbestos particles, suspended in the ambient air.

Suitable analytical methods for asbestos detection in the aerosol are also presented.
