Since the so-called „crisis of industrial agriculture”, a growing emphasis has been put on coping with the environmental impacts of agriculture in Western Europe. Therefore, a concept of post-productivist agriculture was developed during the 1990s, which emphasises the non-productivist character of agricultural production and focuses on environment.
Concrete measures implemented through CAP and aimed at supporting environmental approaches in farming have also been formulated in this period. The question remains, however, whether this approach makes agriculture environmentally more sustainable in general.
The aim of this paper is to present a regional analysis of the allocation of subsidies on Agri-environmental measures within the Horizontal Rural Development Plan of Czechia in relation to physical-geographical indicators. By using a quantitative approach it was found that most of the analysed subsidies were concentrated in areas naturally less favoured for agriculture.
