Military Region as a Determinant of Microregion Population Development?

Abstract

The objective of the article is to find out whether military region may be considered as a determinant of microregion population development. At the beginning it describes historical background of establishing military training areas.

The main part of the article compares trends in fertility, mortality, migration and age structure between five current (Boletice, Brdy, Březina, Hradiště, Libavá) and three former (Dobrá Voda, Milovice, Ralsko) military regions in Czech Republic in the period of 1995–2010.
