The article summarizes basic topics concerning the cyberterror issue. Because of the strict security measures which were taken after 9/11 it has become increasingly harder to carry out a successful terrorist attack.
This evokes a question, whether the terrorists do not seek for another option. The article introduces essential definitions concerning the topic and a separate chapter is devoted to the definition of cyberterrorism.
An analysis of advantages and disadvantages of exploiting cyber attacks follows in the next chapter. The key part of the article is the summary of three basic arguments of those who do not consider cyberterrorism to be particularly dangerous as well as counterarguments of proponents of cyberterrorism.
Three possible future roles of cyberterrorism are evaluated in the conclusion, out of which the role of cyberterrorism as a chaos multiplier was determined to be the most possible scenario of future years.
