Detection and analysis of changes in the rainfall-runoff processes are very important, mainly for forecasting models, the water management planning and the flood-protection. In this research is presented the analysis of rainfall-runoff regime and extreme events of two mountain river basins in the Slovakia in the period 1931-2010.

Assessment methods for the detection of trends in data series of hydrometeorological features were applied. The Hron catchment is more endangered by hydrological extremes as the Belá catchment.

The statistical trend analysis using the Mann-Kendall test approved changes in two gauging stations Zlatno and Liptovský Hrádok.
