Abstract

This paper summerizes foundings from the hydrological research in Vydra headwaters area, Šumava mountains, about hydrological function of Histosols areas and their effect on the outflow from the basin. The study should show how important is to know the groundwater level of a peatbogs and waterlogged areas and their coverage of the catchment as well to predict the outflow in distinct weather conditions. 4 small experimental catchments were chosen with variant peat and waterlogged forest coverage. 2 rainfall events were selected in different part of year with different groundwater level (maximum and minimum) in peatbogs.

During these situations specific discharges were calculated and all of them were compared with the focus on the peatbog coverage. The research compares also different sources of data about peatbog and waterlogged forest coverage.
