Residential stability of Prague suburban residents: the case of Dolnobřežansko microregi

Abstract

The huge development of suburbanization in the hinterland of most Czech cities raises the important issue of residential mobility or stability of the population of suburban municipalities. The study discusses attitudes of suburban households to future change of place of residence on the example of the Dolnobřežansko microregion in the southern hinterland of Prague.

The results show that the area can be considered as relatively residentially stable. Greater tendency to move out is documented in the group of younger and better educated residents (i.e. generally more mobile people), who live in the village for shorter time and are not registered as permanent residents there.

A specific type of housing with higher fluctuations of the population are new apartment buildings.
