The Decline of industrial Ontario vs. The Rise of Oil Alberta

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2013

Abstract

Due to the decline of manufacturing Ontario has been losing its position of the traditional center of gravity and the engine of Canadian economy since 2002. The question this chapter addresses is wheather this decline has been accentuated by emphasised dependency of Canadian economy on staples, particularly on oil, and wheather the rising Alberta has the potential to become a new center of prosperous and competitive Canada.
