Simultaneous in vivo PET/MRI imaging with a bi-metal bimodal tracer: Towards 68Ga-labeled responsive gadolinium contrast agents

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2013

Abstract

(68)Ga-labeled, Gd-based small-molecule PET/MRI probes, comprising chemically identical PET and MRI reporter molecules, enable simultaneous acquisition of PET and MRI data based on truly identical pharmacokinetics and, therefore, quantitative assessment of MRI probe concentration from PET data. This study delivers proof of principle for a versatile synthetic strategy which allows to exploit the full power of responsive Gd contrast agents for medical diagnostics using simultaneous PET/MRI.

A conjugate comprising Gd complex units with pH-dependent relaxivity is currently under investigation.
