The contribution introduces the EcoRivHab method which is an assessment of the ecomorphological river habitat quality. It is based on a field survey with the possibility of using distance data and maps.
The method is a tool for evaluating the ecohydrological quality of rivers with the emphasis on hydromorphological characteristics of channels and the riparian belt and fluvial plain condition. The aim is to find reaches with natural or near natural habitat and to identify the degree of anthropogenic influence of the river.
It is based on the definition of local reference state in the context of the European Water Framework Directive, EU WFD
