Primary School Choice : Applying the Grounded Theory

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2013

Abstract

School choice is one of the important tracking mechanisms, which has significant impact on equity in education. Only a little information is available as far as parental primary school choice is concerned.

The number of schools which parents take into account, the duration of decision-making process and the relevant criteria are not known yet for the parents from the Czech Republic. This paper focuses on using the grounded theory method to study parental choice of primary school.

The study is designed to develop a coherent theory that would explain the process through which parents make primary school choices.
