Surface density and volume density measurements of chloroplast thylakoids in maize (Zea mays L.) under chilling conditions

Abstract

The stereological method using "local vertical windows" was adapted for estimating thylakoid surface area in the chloroplast volume and thus obtained surface density results were compared with those of conventional volume density measurements.
