Abstract

Reading habits and attitude towards reading are formed at pre--school age, and in this respect, the family is still the primary institution in the education and socialization process of acquiring early literacy. The research project will monitor the development of emergent literacy and early reading skills and clarify how children acquire early literacy in the different home environment (in the sense of preschool parenting strategies) using longitudinal panel survey of children during their transition from kindergarten to primary school and in the first two years of school.

The realization of this research project should contribute to a deeper understanding the processes of acquiring early reading and writing skills through family background.
