Abstract
The contribution deals with the textual and visual image of the recently "discovered" inhabitants of the New World in the Czech lands in the 16th and 17th centuries. The patterns of an indio is generally related to the knowledge of the inhabitans of Brazil.
The author uanalyzes not only the textual, but also the visual materials of that time and its divulgation in Evrope and in the Czech lands.
