Abstract
This article deals with genesis of an exceptional motion picture in the context of the United States in the early fifties. The Salt of the Earth was created by cooperation of the Hollywood Reds and miners from Local 890.
American anticommunists labeled the movie that tells a story of one rare strike as a pure soviet propaganda and therefore they tried to do everything possible to sabotage it on local as well as federal level. Despite serious complications during whole production process the movie had premiere in New York in March 1954.
