Abstract
Chronic progressive kidney diseases pose a significant medical and economic problem. Management of progressive nephropathies, education and patient preparation to a selected method of renal replacement are necessary condition of a long-term success. „Predialysis“ is the first monograph with a detailed description of period before the initiation of dialysis therapy or kidney transplantation.
In the monograph the readers may find recent information on renoprotective therapy, dietary intervention, selection of renal replacement therapy method, preparation before transplantation, hemodialysis vascular access, and peritoneal dialysis, etc. Except of nephrologists, the monograph is of interest also for family physicians, diabetologists, general medicine practitioners, and urologists while dealing with the care of the patients in their office.
