Alfred Baštýř (1865-1942) : The Doctor in the Service of the new Media

Abstract

The paper deals with the personality of MUDr. Alfred Baštýř, an important culture exponent of the first Czechovak Republic.

Baštýř, son of the first associate professor of the dental medicine Moses Baštýř, engaged not only in his stomatological practice but he was also very enthusiastic propagator of the new media in the first half of 20th century. He became very important exponent of the czechoslovak cinematography and he engaged also in the amateur radio with pleasure.

He confirmed his skilfulness and creativity with a lot of inventions which were registered in the patents. The personality of Baštýř is very exceptional in the social and religious context, too.

He was as Freemason and Jew persecuted of Nazi regime at the end of his life.
