Abstract
The monograph discuss 16 famous and other 8 extraordinary projects of empirical sociological research since the end of 19. century until the recognition of empirical sociological research as a legitimate part of academic sociology in the middle of 20th century. It concentrates to the research projects, in which the development of sociological methodology has been realized.
It tries to response the crucial question: How the empirical sociological research became the constitutive part of academic sociology. It deals preferably with the "theory based" research projects, which consecutively improved the theoretical base of our sociological knowledge.
