The article aims in regard to the so-called “Migrantenliteratur” at a theory of middle range between the mostly barren fundamental debates about inter- or trans- or multi-culturalism and often very precise interpretations of literary texts, which due to the lack of a common frame are not to mediate with each other. The proposal is to understand the texts of “Migrantenliteratur” in the light of current theories of memory as cultural translations, that opens a ‘third space’ between national-cultural entities.
This proposal is proved by a reading of Libuše Moníkovás novel Pavane für eine verstorbene Infantin.
