Abstract

Infections cause by pathogenic protozoan T.gondii in our geographic area in the most occuring parasitic infection;Czech Republic declares seroprevalence approx.30 %. To diagnose toxoplasmosis mostly serological methods are used (EIA IgM, IgA, Ige, avidity in IgG, Western Blot, complement fixation) and according to positive results of these tests diagnose of acute toxoplasmosis is established.

In our retrospective study we tried to evaluate results of T. gondii DNA positivity from blood samples by PCR compared to positive markers of acute infection in patients before specific therapy was used.
